"God looked around his garden
and found an empty space
Then he looked down upon this earth
and saw your tired face
He put his arms around you
and lifted you to rest
God's garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best"

I remember when I gave birth to my first child, Steven, and being a new mom boy do we have a lot to learn. When he was able to eat solids he decides not to make life easy for me so he wouldn't co-operate with me when I wanted to try new foods. I didn't get it. Zia Assunta was always visiting to help out in any way. She picks up an apple and asked for an espresso spoon.....cuts the apple and starts scrapping the apple and feeds it to her great nephew....I couldn't believe it, he ate it! The whole apple! Zia Assunta turns to me and says one day you will be feeding me the apple like I'm teaching you. She continued to come over and scrap those apples to feed to my second child, my daughter, Samantha. She was sooooo right about feeding her the apple one day. I brought her an apple, well a BAG of apples 😉, she loved and ate them all!!!! LOL I Love you so much Zia, I will miss you so much, xoxo your niece, Leonora |

Everyone has an Aunt that's an AMAZING cook!!!! Yup Zia Assunta was mine. I'm so glad I had the time to come by and have you teach me your veal cutlets with mushroom gravy casserol.....OMG was it delicious. And I remember your lemon squares ~ absolutely to die for. I knew when my Zia head for the freezer I just knew the lemon squares were coming! I can still taste them they were so good. You always knew when you were going to Zia Assuntas you were with true family. Zia you did an amazing job raising three wonderful children. The values of family, always respecting each other and being there for the people you loved. Thank you for being that special Aunt in my life I'm so glad it was you I wouldn't have wanted anyone else, I love you Zia, Leonora |
