Obituary
Mastroianni, Carmine
Peacefully after a long courageous battle, Carmine passed away on February 12, 2016 at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in his 83rd year. Devoted husband of Ida for 56 years. Loving father of Teresa (Gino) Conciatori and Alfonso Mastroianni. Cherished Nonno of Italo, Kristin and Carlo Conciatori. Predeceased by his parents Alfonso and Teresa Mastroianni and in-laws Michele and Ortenza Mastroianni. Dear brother of and brother-in-law of Fillipina (Mario) Calabrese, Anna (Giuseppe) Desimone, Maria (Silvio) Veltri, Luisa (the late Pasquale) Mastroianni, Settimia (the late Steve) Corcione, Rina (the late Francesco) Minardi, Alda (Giacomo) Cristiano, Luigina (Tony) Campolo and Rita (Andrea) Sorrentino. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada and Italy. Carmine was a dedicated employee of Stelco for over 35 years as a crane operator. Carmine had the eagerness and ability to learn and apply those skills such as auto body repair, plumbing, electrical to name a few. He was selfless and not only helped his family but was there for his many relatives and friends without hesitation. Carmine along with his trusted companion, dog Ronda was an avid hunter and gardener. He had a love of food whether it was making it or enjoying it with family and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kouroukis and nurse Karen for their kindness, care and compassion - we will forever be grateful. We would also like to acknowledge the caring staff at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for making his final hours comfortable and dignified.
Donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre or to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

It will be the little things
that you will remember,
the quiet moments,
the smiles, the laughter.
And although it may seem
hard right now,
it will be the memories
of these little things
that help to push
away the pain
and bring the smiles
back again.
Please accept our deepest sympathies. In this time of grief, you are in our thoughts and in our prayers.

Zio was an important part of our family. He helped us to feel connected and we love him for that. He wasn't a perfect man by any means but he showed his love many times and in many ways. Fruit trees that suddenly appeared planted in our yard or surprise visits with fruit and always a big smile. We will miss those visits and everything that made him such a special man. We love you. Thinking of everyone who loved him especially Zia Ida.
Love from Gida, Danica, Joanna, Giuseppe, Kaleigh, Liam and Michele Mastroianni |

Zio Carmine as most of us know was good with his hands and liked to fix things. One day several years back circa 2007 Zio Carmine gave my children a couple of refurbished bikes, a girl's bike and a boy's. With such a big family -we have 4 kids -we were grateful for these gifts that he lovely restored to a good working condition. We'd keep the bikes for several years until my children grew out of them.
We will miss you Zio and your generosity.
