In Celebration of

Clifford James "Jim" Elliott

MARCH 10, 1938 - OCTOBER 10, 2017
As evening's dusk descended, our most cherished husband, Dad and brother slipped away from us peacefully Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the age of 79. Jim leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years Aileen (Kiley), his "girls" Mary Pat, Beth Anne, Sarah Jane (Andrew Papple) and son Kiley (Kelly), loving sisters Bea Rhodes and Joan Bunker of Peterborough and many dear nieces and nephews including Virginia Casey (Jim) of Hamilton. He is predeceased by parents Clifford and Jean Elliott and brother Roy. "Chum" grew up in Omemee, Ontario on the Pigeon River, playing train sets with Neil Young and getting scouted as an ace hardball pitcher. He studied architecture at Ryerson and had a 33-year career as a public servant and member of the Canadian Hydrographic Service as a Marine Cartographer (Fisheries & Oceans Burlington and Ottawa). Jim was a quiet and gentle soul who rarely complained, even when health challenges limited his activities. In recent years, he enjoyed bird watching, growing his favourite blue morning glories, voraciously following CNN, CBC, the Spec, the Globe and his beloved Blue Jays - always with a beer or two! Sincere thanks to Drs. Wallik, Darcel and Kelly, nurses Raquel and Tawnya of Juravinski F4 and to the countless, nameless researchers whose work allowed Jim to live decades as a survivor of both heart disease and cancer. Visitation and vigil to be held on Friday, October 20th at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 21st at 2:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption , 63 Regional Rd. 20, Stoney Creek. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Online condolences to: www.baygardens.ca

Mr. Elliott was always very quiet but kind and welcoming and I loved spending time at the house with BA in our high school days. St. Patty's and midnight mass on TV at Christmas time are clear memories for me. The closeness of this family is testament to the love that was in the house always. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Lee-Ann (Campbell) Vansteenkiste
