Obituary
Passed away, peacefully in her sleep, at the Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on June 21, 2016 at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her loving husband Job in 1999. Cherished mother to Carmen (Don) Uffen, Peter, Yvonne (Darren) Hupp, Patricia (Jon) Miller and Tamara (Anthony) Mullen. Adoring Oma to Kendall, Logan, Hannah, Cole and Olivia. Loving sister to Waltraut, Ernst and Gerda. Predeceased by her siblings Kathe, Reinhold, Lydia, Herta, Horst, Paul, Hildegard and Herbert. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends here in Canada, Germany and the United States. Elli will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family. Elli was a caring and loving mother, always putting her family before herself. With every grandchild, her heart grew bigger as each of them brought her so much love and joy. They gave her strength for the most difficult battle of her life. Elli’s other passion was her flowers. Affectionately known as the “Flower Lady”, through her creative talents of arranging flowers, she added a special touch to her family’s and clients’ most memorable life events. Actively involved in many of the local Farmer’s Markets, including Kitchener, Mississauga Square One and Nathan Phillips Square Toronto, Elli enjoyed helping her customers find that perfect planter, basket or bouquet. She thoughtfully and graciously touched the lives of many. Her commitment to work hard and to face every challenge with positive determination will continue to guide those she loved so much. A very special thank you to Elli’s medical team…Dr. Gee and the nurses and staff at the cancer clinic, the doctors and nurses at Joseph Brant Hospital in the emergency department and 4 south and east, Dr. Darcel, Dr. Bzonek, nurse Angela and the staff at the Carlisle Medical Centre. Elli was very fortunate to have so many wonderful and dedicated people supporting her. A special thank you also to the caring and compassionate staff at the Delmanor Glen Abbey and Chartwell Martha’s Landing.

Dear Elli!
You’ve gone – we are very sad.
We enjoyed it very much to spend time together with you - in Canada or here with us in Hamburg.
We remember the family reunion at your home in 2009. You arranged that big party, did all shoppings and cooking together with Gerda for days. The whole family was invited and everybody had so much fun.
We miss you so much.
While you needed help, your children have been there for you. You got the best children all over the world. They gave you the feeling to be needed badly. They took over serious decisions for you to make you feel comfortable.
Dear Carmen, Ivonne, Patricia, Tamara and Peter – we are deeply sorry for the loss of your Mama. We both have fond memories of Elli.
Love
Uschi and Hans

Dear Carmen, Peter, Yvonne, Patricia and Tamara and families
I am deeply saddened by by Elli’s passing. These last few days I have been reminiscing so many good times together.
Elli has been a true friend for over 54 years. Our families spent so many wonderful times together. We got together on so many occasions, baptisms, confirmations, bridal showers and family dinners when we enjoyed each other’s company.
More recently we continued meeting, just the 2 of us, catching up on each other’s lives.
Elli was a good mother and a great friend.
May the love of family and the support of friends comfort you.
We will surely miss the presence of a lovable and kind person.

To my mom and best friend,
Thank you for the wonderful life that we had together. All the joys and sorrow that we shared are ours and ours alone.
Anthony, Cole and I will always cherish the time we had.
Even though others would never understand, your intuitive insight to the world around you was imcrediable.
I know that you are sitting in the meadow, filled with woldflowers, your paradise, that you spoke of in August.
In April, you knew your time was near and I am grateful and thankful that we were able to have our own "memorial". Your words gave me strength to except what was happening and allowed me to grieve privately, free from harm.
You are now free with your dignity, grace, and self determation returned to you.
Your words "never forget me and we will always be together" will hold true in my heart until I see you again - in paradise.
Until we meet again,
Your loving daughter,
Tamara |

Dear Elly,
I'm searching for words, but all I can say is that we're all very sad. Last night Mike and me spent the time together with friends and all the great memories with you came to my mind. I shared all those great memories with my friends. Also with my mum and dad we talked at the phone about you and what great times we had. You were such a lovely person with a huge heart.
You will always have a place in our heart.
Tamara, Patricia, Yvonne, Peter & Carmen, we feel so sorry for you.

Hello Rucker Family.
My dad just told me about your mom passing away and immediately a small piece of my heart broke.
I often thought of your mom, wondered how she was and was saddened by the fact that I let so much time pass without getting in touch.
I remember so we'll all of the time I spent with her at markets and preparing for markets at the house. She was a truley remarkable lady!
I loved her and your dad like they were my own family and they taught me so much.
The memories I have will stay with me forever and I am so thankful to have been a part of their lives.
To all of you I'd like to say I am very sad for your loss but know in my heart that you were all loved and cherished and that because of the person Elle was you will all be strong and will remember her always.
To Elle... You were a huge part of my life for so many years. I'm sorry for losing touch. But know that I became who I'm am today due in part to the many things you taught me and I am proud to say I knew you. Xoxo
May the fields of flowers be forever be in bloom for you and Job. Together again at last.
