For what is it to die but to stand naked
in the wind and to melt in the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to
free the breath from its restless tides, that
it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of
silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the
mountain top, then shall you begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your
limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Dearest Auntie Salwa, Joseph, Sheryl and all of the Azzam family

I know from experience that there are no words that I can say to you that will ease your pain.
I do want to express my deepest condolences to all of you and know that you are in my thoughts.

I have such fond memories of playing with Joseph in your backyard in Calgary and memories of getting together over the years. I will miss my dear Godfather but I trust that he is in a better place.

I will share with you a poem I read at my mother's funeral that gives me comfort in my darkest moments. I hope it can give you some comfort to.

Love Lives On
Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on
And cherished memories never fade
Because a loved one's gone...
Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart.
For as long as there is memory,
They'll live on in the heart.

All my love.
