Florina Castura (1947-2017)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Florina, surrounded by her family on April 14, 2017, at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton.

Beloved wife and best friend of 48 years to Marcel. Cherished mother to Christina (Jay MacLean) and Jeff. Loving Nana to Ben, Evan, Oliver, Vivienne and Eleanor. Caring big sister to Lino Rosa (Janice) and Louisa Rosa (Tim O’Regan) and sister-in-law to Lou Castura (Marlene) and Nancy Castura (Jos Nederveen). Florina will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, with whom she built special relationships. She was predeceased by her parents, Luigi and Anna Rosa and her parents-in-law, Joe and Sera Castura.

Florina will be remembered for her limitless love, kindness, caring and empathy for family and others. She possessed an adventurous, stylish and artistic spirit that was warmly shared with friends and family through extensive travel, exquisite cuisine, and social outings. An exceptional teacher and principal, Florina was noted for her integrity, leadership and compassion during more than 30 years with the Hamilton Wentworth CDSB. Florina was a remarkable and brave woman who endured the debilitating effects of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy with courage, strength, dignity and faith.

I am sorry for your loss, please accept my sincere condolences. I hope the family will find some comfort and strength in Jesus promise of the earthly resurrection (Acts 24:15) and the renewed Paradise earth, where death will be no more and no family will mourn the death of a loved one as stated at Revelation 21:3,4. May God (Psalms 83:18) grant you peace and comfort now during this grievous time.

Mary and I were privileged to have had Florina as a friend.
She was this very special, gentle lady who always went out of her way to make you feel welcome.
We wish the family our deepest sympathies in these difficult times, knowing that eventually the thousands of good memories will be what remains.

Take Care

Dear Marcel,
Although I knew Florina for only a short time, her grace, and yours, in handling her life-altering and life-limiting illness was evident, and inspirational. It was a privilege to be part of your journey.
My heart goes out to you in your grief. Here's praying for God's peace for Florina and your family--"the peace that passes all understanding."
