March 1, 2021
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Francesca (Cecchina) Quaranta on March 1st, 2021 at Macassa Lodge in Hamilton, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of Francesco Quaranta for 63 years. Loving mother and mother-in law of Joe (Karen) Quaranta, Angela Quaranta, and Rosa (Sam) Alfano and doting nonna to Frankie, Joey (Ashley), Natalie, Marina, Julian, Sebastian and great-grandmother to Francesco. Predeceased by her loving parents Leonardo and Rosa (nee Bellomo) Di Cosola and her dear sister Grazia (late Giuseppe) Bellomo. She will be sadly missed by her brothers Pierino(Angela), Franco (Silvia), Antonio (Lena), Gaetano(Gina), Domenico (Natalia) and sisters Maria (late Lilino) Vernola, and Vincenza Di Cosola , her brothers and sisters-in-law Michele (Rosa), Lucia (Giuseppe), Anna (late Michele), Giuseppe (Lina) and her many nieces and nephews in Italy, USA, and Venezuela.
Francesca was born April 21, 1936 , in Bari, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1965 with her young family. Francesca showed her love to her family and many dear friends through her amazing cooking of her traditional Barese cuisine (especially her delicious focaccia) and kind, generous heart. She was a talented seamstress from the young age of 13. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing cards with her dear family and friends. She had a deep and devoted faith to God and Padre Pio always praying to keep herself and her family safe and healthy.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Macassa lodge, especially the PSW’s, nurses, and Dr. Khera who took such loving care of her until her very last moments.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private visitation and service will be for immediate family only. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Memorial donations to The Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Please consider signing our Book of Condolences
