Obituary
Mercanti, Giuseppe
June 17, 1923 - August 11, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce that Giuseppe succumbed peacefully with his loving family by his side at St. Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the age of 92. Cherished husband of Iolanda (Mancini) for 69 years. Loving father to Sam (Roma), Peter (Gabriela), the late Morris (Lynn), Rosanne (John). Dearest Nonno to Daniela (Chip), Lisa (Ian), Jennifer (Chad), P.J. (Diana), Samantha, Joe (Rachel), Marisa, Michael, Marcello, Giuliana and Erica. Great-grandfather to Nicholas, Marco, Frankie, Madison, Zachary, Chelsea, Joseph, Savannah, Matthew. Giuseppe is survived by brothers Guerino (Maria), Nardino (Lilliana), Tony (the late Florence), sisters Iolanda (Vince) and Maria (the late Carlo). Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, France and Brazil. Predeceased by his parents Eusanio and Santina, infant brother Angelino, brothers Alfredo (the late Nella), Raffaele (Maria), sister Costanzia (the late Vincenzo), Gabriele (Josephine). Giuseppe was a modest man who enjoyed the very simple pleasures of life. Sharing the bounty of his seasonal garden and wine making skills, enjoying to tell stories with hearty laughter to friends, raising his pigeons, playing a game of Briscola, and most of all enjoying the company of his loving family. A special thank you to his home caregivers Sally, Sharron, Rosetta, Marisa and Sharon S. for your companionship and care you gave our father within the last five years of his life. To doctors Ross Allega, Bobby Shayegan, Dr. Cheung, and nurses Candace, Brittany, and Breanne, in the St. Joseph's CTU West unit, your gentleness in caring for our father will always be remembered and greatly appreciated.

To all of the Mercanti family who were truly blessed to have such a wonderful man as their husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather we give our heartfelt condolences.
We will miss our neighbour and all of his advice on how to best keep a car shining and how to grow the best garden! We gave up and just ate from his garden!
Take care with your mother she will miss him the most. Our memories of those who have gone before us is what sustains us to carry on without them.
Bless you Joe for a life well lived!!!

Our hearts go out to you and your family as you face this most difficult time. How we all look forward to the time when those asleep like your loved one will be woken up and come back to life. This is a hope that keeps us going, because we too, have lost many of our loved ones. As Psalms 37:9-11, 29 promises, soon, we’ll all enjoy life on this earth at a time when there will be no more, pain, sickness, or death.
