Grace Aitken
October 4, 1949 - April 3, 2016
Obituary
AITKEN, Grace Anne (nee Restivo)

October 4, 1949- April 3, 2016

With much sadness, Grace's family announces her peaceful passing at the Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Much loved daughter of Harry and Ruby Restivo. Grace was predeceased by her soulmate Gordon Aitken (2013) after 44 years of marriage and was the devoted mother to their daughters Tambra Leigh (Tammy) Heldman (Kevin) and Laurie Anne Ross. Loved and loving grandmother to Michaela Anne Ross, Nikolas-Gordon Ross, and Alyssa Grace Isabella Heldman. Much loved sister to Sam Restivo (Anne) and Joanne Restivo (the late Keith Johnny). Very proud aunt to Matt, Robert and Kate Johnny. Grace is remembered by many aunts and uncles and was a very special cousin to both her own and Gord's families. She will always be "Auntie Grace" to many of their children. Aunt Janis and Mom were sisters in heart and their friendship will be forever special.

Grace was a valued employee at McMaster Medical Centre for over 40 years, as an R.P.N. and in the ECG department where she leaves many good friends who became part of her family.

Thank you to EMS, nursing and medical staff at the Hamilton General Hospital ICU East for their exceptional kindness during a very difficult time.

For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

I worked with Grace at McMaster Medical center in the ECG dept. for 33 years. She was a wonderful coworker and the best friend. We shared a lot over the years while watching our kids grow up,marry and have kids of their own.We shared a lot of tears, laughs, the occasional disagreement but also a lot of love.
Grace always had your back and never let me down.best coworker ,friend and confidant anyone could want. She struggled with health issues her whole life but never complained and always had a kind word or smile for everyone .A few times I had to rush her to ER cause her sugar was low!!!!
Her family was her life!!!!!She loved each and everyone of you with a passion and would do anything she could for you.
Rest in peace Grace you will be missed. Love Ilene.

I trained with Grace, in1993. Then, in 2012,returned to MUMC as staff in ECG. Grace was always such a nice person. A very good friend. She was such a gentle soul. Gracie, it was so nice knowing you. I was the fortunate one. I'm so sad, to hear you've passed on, but I'm thankful that you didn't suffer too long. I'll miss you Gracie, may you rest in peace. XOXO
