In Celebration of

Gregory Mills

July 11, 1970 -  September 27, 2023

Gregory Andrew Mills, 53, of Hamilton, died unexpectedly on September 27th, 2023. His family, friends, and co-workers are all deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Greg was born on July 11th, 1970, attended Ancaster High School, and lived in Ancaster during his childhood years. He attended Brock University for one year, then, after working for several years at the YMCA in Hamilton, he went on to begin his career as a police officer.

Greg was in his 20th year of policing. He spent time in the frontline patrol, criminal investigations, the Canusa games team, the Mounted Patrol Unit, and as an instructor at the Ontario Police College. This was a natural role for Greg mentoring new recruits, as he always enjoyed volunteering his time coaching and mentoring athletes. Greg was passionate about volleyball and he coached the McMaster University Volleyball team for many years. He was well known for his humour, infectious laugh, and love of sports. His friends and family will remember him for his kindness and generosity.

Greg was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Carolyn (nee Cook) Mills. He is survived by his partner, Hajnalka Vamosi, his sister, Alyson (Mills) Wickham and his brother-in-law, Kyle Wickham. He was loving “Uncle Greg” to his nephews, Owen and Adam, as well as to many others who affectionately called him this.

A service will be held at the Bay Gardens Funeral Home on October 5th at 1:00pm. Visitation will be held the evening before from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canusa Games or the Benevolent Fund for the Police Association of Hamilton in Greg’s name.

Greg's positivity and generosity of his time were a super power for him. He left his mark on all who knew him. It is sad that the darkness he carried put out his bright light way too soon. But we are very thankful for all the fantastic and fun memories we shared together. Rest in Peace my friend- rest assured I will always raise a toast to you on July 11th.
