Dear Tante Tiny,

We are so sorry to hear the sad news that you passed away. May you rest in peace. And if you see oom Huub and omaatje Beckers. Please give them our kind regards. As oma told us in the Kirchrao 'dialect' "everyone is worthy to be greeted", when she saw somebody on her way: a known or unknown person.

David, Diane and family,
Our thoughts are with you. We hope that you all find the strength to go one with your lives. An that one day you will see the light of a little star at the end of the dark period.

Kind Regards,

Ryan Beckers,

Dear Diana, David and family,

From Harry and Ria we heard of the death of your mother.

The news came very unexpected. Tini was a very good, warm friend and colleague of mine in the fifties.

I missed her very much when she migrated to Canada in 1959.

I feel very sad about the loss of Tini.

My husband Franz and I wish you a lot of strength in these sad days.

Life Stories

Diane Taylor (Bouwman) (Daughter)

Entered May 19, 2018 from Hamilton, Ontario

Our mom started nursing school when she was 16 years old in a Convent in the Netherlands. She considered joining the nursing order of nuns at the Convent but her father preferred her to have a married life with children and serve God in her career of nursing by helping people. She was strong in her Catholic faith for her whole life.
Mom came to Canada in 1959 and married our father Anthony Bouwman at St. Andrew's Church in Oakville on the corner of King Street and Reynolds Street. They had started their courtship in Holland (in the province of Limburg) after mom was the nurse caring for Anthony's mother. Mom and dad lived on Lakeshore Road in a small apartment over a store at first, then built a house in "the country" which is now the busy Burnhamthorpe Road. They sold that house and bought a 4plex on Reynolds Street and managed it very well, with us living in one of the larger apartments. They severed their lot and built another house beside the 4plex where they raised my brother and I. Unfortunately their marriage ended after 21 years and mom moved my brother and I to the old "Falgarwood" neighbourhood in Oakville. She bought a big townhouse with her half of the settlement and continued working to support us and pay for our educations. She always made sure all of our needs were met and had a stable home. She was rich in character, love, tradition and love of life. She was always able to put a positive spin on any unfortunate event. When she retired and moved to Hamilton, she traveled to very many places including Spain, Greece, Cuba, California, Alaska and more places than I can remember. Although she struggled at times with her heart condition, she maintained a very healthy lifestyle of good diet and exercise to get "maximum usage of her mechanical valve" she used to say. She often said that the Canadian tax payers paid for her heart and extended her life so she would do her part and take good care of it. Mom was a noble, caring and devoted person who was also intelligent and kept up to date with world events. She taught my brother and I so much and we hope to honour her memory to our fullest potential. Good bye mother dear, may you enjoy dancing with the angels and feeling the warmth of the Holy Spirit for eternity. We love you forever!
