It is with immense sadness and empty hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved Ilda Maria Ventura Massa in her impressive 91st year. Surrounded by love, affection and her family, our wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, companion and friend left us and joins her treasured son, Cristiano (February, 23, 2014). Most cherished and loyal wife of Horacio for 70 years. Adored and devoted mother of John (Anne), Alda (Joe), Honorato (Fatima), Mary, Gabby (Luis), Benn (Joey) and Ross (Nemesia) and mother in law, to Angelina. World’s greatest Vavó to Lenny, Mark, Kelly, Philip, Derek, Shawn, Sarah, Neil, William, Bradley, Adam, Gary, Brennan, Sheldon, Cameron, Cassandra, Shelby and Chantel. Proud great-grandmother of Kylie, Matteo, Alex, Makayla, Daniella, Maya, Caleigh, Isabela, and Jackson. Ilda will also be fondly remembered by Jose and Tony. She will also be remembered by her strong network of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends in Canada, the US, the Azores and mainland Portugal. Ilda immigrated to Canada in 1975 and together with her husband, Horacio worked tirelessly to provide family life that was rich in culture, tradition and integrity. She could often be found in the kitchen, cooking and baking up a storm as she was known for her expert recipes. Our family wishes to thank all those who had a helping hand with Ilda’s compassionate care, with kudos to Helena, Maria and Lorena.Since Cancer has affected both our family and so many others, memorial donations in Ilda’s honour can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
