Irene De Rubeis
December 17, 1947 - July 29, 2015
Obituary
De Rubeis, Irene

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Irene on July 29th in her 68th year. Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Emilia Depczynski and her parents in law, Carmine and Agata De Rubeis. Devoted wife of Anthony for 47 beautiful years, adoring mother to Tina (Michael Doyle) and Connie (Aaron Tomlinson); wonderful grandmother to Michael and Matthew Doyle; special sister-in-law to Connie (Ernesto Aquino); cherished cousin to Jadwica (Lucjan Maciejewska); beloved niece of Mario Valeri (predeceased), Ermando Valeri (Luisa Valeri), and Antonio Valeri (predeceased)(Nida Valeri); dear special friend to Jean Tomlinson. She will also be missed by her many relatives and friends in Canada, Poland, and Italy. Irene will be remembered for her great resilience, loyalty, and, most of all, her endless compassion, that she demonstrated every day of her life. We are grateful to the Doctors and Nurses of the ICU Team, especially Dr. Tougas and nurse Donna Cunningham of the Juravinski Hospital for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) are appreciated.

Anthony and I go back to our common roots in Gagliano Aterno, Italy.
In Hamilton we went though high school together and then at the university of Western Ontario in London.
Our professional paths diverged buy we occasionally would meet up through the years.
I knew Irene briefly but did know that she was the bed-rock foundation of the family and made Tony a better person all-around, supporting his professional career and mothering their children.
I also know that Irene had some health issues in the past but she courageously survived them.
I extend our sincere condolences to the DeRubies family and can't help but think of that 50's song
"good night Irene, I'll see you in my dreams"

My deepest condolences to all. Irene was one of the most courageous person that I have ever met. I will always remember her as such. May God keep her close and forever happy with Him. Until we meet again! Farewell.

Tony and I were very close friends until after university when we went separate ways in our careers. But I would get updates on Tony and Irene through our mutual friends Sil and Angela.
Irene was a supportive wife and very helpful in her husband's career. We ask God to embrace her soul as she enters the gates of Heaven where she will surely rest in peace. Our deepest sympathies at this sad time.
