Obituary
MCFARLAND, Jack Clifford

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jack Clifford McFarland died peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital February 22, 2016, one month after his 95th birthday. He joins in heaven his beloved wife Marie. Adored father of Lynn Deakin, Marylou, Jack (Laura), Dale (Barry Potter) and Steve (Marie). Beloved grandfather of Brian (Lisa), Ginette (Brian), Robert (Paula), Christina (Mike), Stephanie, Barry, Jason, Kristal, Scott and Karen and great grandfather of Sabrina, Izabella, Ethan, Jack, Sophia, Nathan, Matthew, Lukas and Emily. Predeceased by his wife Marie (Crown)(2013) and son-in-law Marshall Deakin (2006). Jack was also predeceased by his siblings Bud, Dallas, Jim and Eva. Sadly missed by his four legged companion Teddy. Jack was a veteran of World War II. He was wounded at the battle of Dieppe and taken prisoner, spending 2 1/2 years as a prisoner of war. He spent his life honouring those who lost their lives on the battlefield. Jack was a proud member of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. He retired from the Canadian Forces in 1975. Jack served 34 years with the Hamilton Wentworth Regional Police, retiring as staff sergeant in 1981. In 2002 Jack was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal.
