Jessica Martin's Obituary

On the evening of Wednesday, December 5th in Hamilton Ontario, Jessica Bree Martin loving daughter, sister and partner passed away suddenly in hospital at the age of 35. She was born on June 1st 1983 in Scarborough Ontario. Jessica received an honours degree from McMaster University in Classics, she studied abroad in Leeds and went on to get a Masters of Museum Studies & Sexual Diversity Studies from the University of Toronto. She had an endless list of accomplishments.

Jessica was a world traveller, an adventurer, a seeker of truth and wisdom through knowledge and art. She loved languages and was working on learning her 5th. More than anything she was a courageous, generous, loving soul, who made everyone laugh with her quick wit, incredible memory and sharp intellect. She was determined to live a beautiful life, strong and fearless, she was a force of nature.

Jessica was taken from us far too soon. She went into the hospital conscious, having sudden severe flu like symptoms. Within a few hours, she was gone. Her family and loved ones will be mourning this loss until their last days. She is survived by her father Randy, her sister Lisa and her fiancé Kevin.

In lieu of flowers, a trust has been set up for donations under Jessica’s name at any First Ontario Credit Union. For those living further away, please donate to the World Wildlife Fund in her honour.

As per her request a traditional funeral will not take place but a celebration of life will be held at Bay Gardens, 947 Rymal Road East in Hamilton, Ontario. This reception will take place on Tuesday, December 11th, from 5pm until 9pm. Her sister, Lisa will be speaking around 7pm.

In honour of Jessica, we will finish with one of her favourite quotes, said by her father. Jess, now you truly are, "a free agent in the universe.'

It is with great sadness that I have to write about a beautiful young lady Jessica who has left us far to soon. She was ray of sunshine with her loving and caring heart, her infectious laugh, the continuous sparkle in her eye and unending kindness.

A wonderful soul mate to Kevin.

Our thoughts and prayers will be for comfort to the family.

Jess was the girl you went to when you needed that extra vote of confidence, she also dished out a good loving dose of realism when you needed to hear it. I have so many beautiful memories of Jess and feel blessed to have met her on this path. Jess was bigger than life and so I know she's bursting with light at the speed of God. ❤🚀
