After a courageous year long battle with ALS, it is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Judy Zizzo, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday July 15, 2016 at the age of 72 . Loving and beloved wife to Angelo for 53 wonderful years. Dedicated mother to Lynn Angela, Dean Joseph (Gale) and Mark Steven (Romina). Proud and loving grandmother to Bennett, Nathan and Lauren Buckley, Hannah and Aidan Zizzo, Monique and Lucas Zizzo. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Ivy Blackwood. Survived by her siblings Linda (Glenn) Wardell, Tom (Wendy), John, Cathy (Tom) Robertson, Steve (Rose). Sister-in -law to Carolyn (Michael) Cornale, David (Francine), Charles (Clara), Richard (Karen). As a graduate of Cathedral High School, she worked as a secretary at Stelco. She left to raise her children as a loving and dedicated mother. Her good taste in design, fashion, cooking, gardening, homemaking and Chardonnay was amazing. She loved reading, travelling and fine dining. She met Angelo at age 15 and he 17. It was the deep love at first sight that supported them both throughout the difficult years of his medical training and early years of family practice. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. One of her biggest pleasures was helping and watching her children grow into happy successful adults providing her and Angelo the best seven grandchildren anyone could ever have. Her strong will, determination, elegance, generosity, grace and dignity were always outstanding characteristics even to the very end. She touched the lives of many. Her deepest gratitude is extended to the many dear and loving family members, friends and neighbours who all have been amazingly kind and generous. Thanks to all the nursing and support staff from the CCAC / VON and the Palliative Care Unit. A special thanks to Vilma for all of her love and care.
