In Celebration of

Leslie Beatrice Renfrew

April 17, 1930 -  October 20, 2018

RENFREW, Leslie Beatrice (nee Pond)-It is with sorrow, that Leslie passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in the home she had lived in for 63 years in the afternoon of Saturday, October 20th at the age of 88 years. Her children by her side. She was the much loved wife of John (1982), and mother of Dawn, John “Johnny”, and Paul. She was a kind sister to Betty-Ann (1974), and half-sister to Mary (John-2015). She was the cherished sister in law of Bob (Janet-2017), and David (Dianne), and Aunt of Diane (Ted) Hoyle, and their children Katie (Justin) McGhie, and Andrea, Joanne (Maurice) Hughes, and their children Scott and Shannon, and Bob and his children Eric and Molly. Leslie was also an “Aunt” to her long time neighbour Randy and Sherry Erwood’s children Michael, Chris, Steven and Ashleigh. Leslie was happy to be a very dedicated elementary school teacher in Hamilton before marrying and then again in Burlington after her children were old to be on their own. She was cheerful and interested in learning and encouraged all of us to be the same. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington, 905-527-0405 on Sunday, October 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Monday October 29 at 10:00 am, with interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Botanical Gardens, Cootes to Escarpment Eco Park System Land Acquisition Fund or Joseph Brant Wellness House would welcomed by the family. Details provided at the Funeral Home.

I wish "Granny" Renfrew to rest in peace and be able to wander the Heavenly's gardens to her heart's delight. She always welcomed me and my family into her home and we made her our daughter's honourary grandmother. She was wonderful to my daughter and often brought some gifts from her travels abroad. She will be missed.

Remembering all of the good times with Leslie at both Fairview and Kilbride schools. A wonderful role model as the years have gone by. Nothing slowed her down. She enjoyed life and the company of friends at various social events. A very special lady.

Annelie Hedden (Fellow teacher)

Leslie was my mentor when I was at Kilbride school. She taught me so much about the environment and her enthusiasm was always evident. She always put the kids first and knew each exactly what each student needed. She was a lifelong learner and always toured the world in order to learn more.
I am so thankful that I had her in my life!
