In Celebration of

Louis "Lou" Tait

MARCH 23, 1926 - NOVEMBER 14, 2017

Lou passed away peacefully in his 92nd year on November 14, 2017. Finally reunited with Marilou, his loving wife of 54 years, who passed away in July 2000. Lou was also predeceased by his brother Vince Tratnyek (Doreen) and his sister Mary Zver (Joe). Lou is survived by his children, Susan, Patti (Doug) and Dave (Linda). Grandpa will be greatly missed by his eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dad lived the Canadian dream. He arrived from Europe as a child, and he went on to work at Dofasco for 43 years. Dad volunteered at the Dofasco Christmas Party for many years. He spent the early years of his “retirement” working part-time cutting the rough at Glen Abbey. Dad and mom enjoyed travelling, square dancing, music, and playing the organ with friends. Dad loved sports, especially baseball, golf, and hockey. Dad’s lasting legacy to his family was his passion for photography. While he would say that a good photographer should need only three seconds to set up and take a photo, there was no time limit on explaining the photos after developed. Countless slideshows were held in the Tait basement. Memory issues aside, Dad’s love of photography endured to the end. No matter who was showing pictures to him, he inevitably would stop the show and proclaim, “I love your composition in that picture.” Many thanks to the staff at Extendicare Hamilton for taking care of “Papa” for the past two years. A Memorial Visitation will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME “William J. Markey Chapel” 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905-527-0405) on Sunday November 19th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be preferred in lieu of flowers and appreciated by the family. Please sign the Online Book of Condolences at www.baygardens.ca

Over the years we have had the pleasure to meet Lou on a few occasions as well as at Glen Abbey Golf Course when he worked there. We know he will be sadly missed by his family and friends as he was a very personable and likeable person. Our deepest sympathies go out to Susan and her family during this sad time.

Susan, Patti and Doug , David and Linda and children I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Lou’s death so many wonderful .memories . The love he had for life , his great smile, love for figure skating, love for his children and grandchildren and the organ. One of my favorite memories is the many Xmas eves we spent together . He will always have a special place in my heart. I was so grateful to have a chance to catch up with him at Susan’s a few years ago. When one thinks of life’s blessings for Uncle Lou it was the love and pride he had for each of you and yours for him.. I may not be able to make the trip from Owen Sound on Sunday but want you to know that Uncle Lou will always have a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you. With love
