In Celebration of

Marie Amanda McDow

February 28, 1922 -  January 24, 2017

McDow, Marie Amanda (nee: Doucet)

Peacefully, with loved ones by her side, on January 24, 2017, one month before her 95th birthday. Reunited with her late husband, Robert Bruce Rich. Loving mother to the late Bruce (Jane) Rich and Heather Rich. Devoted grandmother to Pamela (Adam) Kinsman, Amanda Rich and Robert Rich. Cherished great-grandmother to Eric, Robyn and Malia. After over a 20 year career at Stelco Swansea Works Marie enjoyed a 35 year retirement doing what she loved the most in the world, spending time with her family. Always loving, always generous, always honest and forthcoming. A genuine sense of humour carried her through good times and bad. A continuous source of strength and support to those around her, her boundless energy propelled her through life. Be ready in heaven, you will be receiving a good cleaning.

As per Marie's wishes, a private cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Mom, I love you and miss you. Forever and always you will be the wind beneath my wings.

I have met Marie many times when she used to visit her daughter Heather at our Arrow Shirt office. I was always in awe because her petite size belied her age and her feisty A+ personality. Marie always had a smile on her face, twinkle in her eye, and never failed to give a witty retort.
Through conversations with Heather over the years, not only was it apparent that Marie loved her family very much and that they were the centre of her universe, but in turn Marie was truly loved, worshipped and doted on by her family.
My sincerest condolences

What word comes to mind when I think about Marie, Firecracker! For such a small package she packed a lot of power right to the end. I consider myself very lucky to have had Marie in my life and my memories of her will always be good ones. She even let me call her Mom.
Good bye Mom, love you, Cyndi

Sincere condolences to you and your family. I'm sure she has left a big hole in your heart but knowing that she is now at peace is such a comfort. May she rest in peace. Lorraine
