On November 2, 2016 we lost our rock. Marinus Vanderzanden passed away in his 84th year peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Marinus was a loving and caring husband to Margaret (nee Schoutsen) for the past 58 years and devoted father to Joanne (Ron), Margaret (Jacques), Debbie (Tony) and Rodney. Grandfather to Michael (Brittany), Christopher, Milena (Wes), Vanessa, Alex, Steven, Meghan, Matthew, Dan and Nikolas (Kylene). Great grandfather to Ryder, Lucy, Mason, Hayden, Jack, Klara and Blake. He will also be missed by his favourite daughter in-law Belinda.

A special thank you to the staff, doctors and especially his nurses Marcus, Nicole and Carrie of the ICU Unit at the General for their care and compassion. We thank you from the bottom of our heart.

If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together….
There is something you must always remember,
You are Braver than you believe,
Stronger than you seem,
And Smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is,
even if we’re apart…
I’ll always be with you.”

Debbie, please accept our sincere sympathy on the passing of your dad. Even though we didn’t meet your dad, we know during our conversations when you spoke of him, that you loved him dearly. May you find comfort in happy memories and in knowing others sympathize and care.

You are all in my thoughts during this difficult time. He was such a loving great man and always had a big hug and kiss for me whenever he came to visit. I know he will always be protecting you all and watch over you all as life carries on. He was such a gentle soul and has instilled so many great qualities in you all. Wish I could make it down to give you all the biggest hugs. Love you guys <3 - Alana
