PRESTA, Mario

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mario, surrounded by his loving family on April 28, 2018 in his 78th year. Mario leaves behind Annina, his best friend and devoted wife of 58 years. Predeceased by his parents Domenico and Amalia Presta of Donnici, Italy and Pietro and Assunta Bozzo of Hamilton. Loving father of Dominic (Anna), Amalia (Nick), Frank (Cristina), and Enzo (Maria). Cherished and adored Nonno of Sarah (Jacob), Steven, Ashley, Alexander (Alycia), David, Jessica, Jacob, Natalia, Matthew, and Victoria. Loving brother of Maria (Vincenzo) Romano, the late Umberto (Lidia) Presta, Oreste (Vittoria) Presta, Anna (late Michele) Filice, Pina (Raffaele) Mazzuca, Lidia (Gerardo) Frangella, and Rita (Paolo) Ras. Loving brother-in-law to the late Carmine (Anna) Bozzo, Maria (late Pietro) Spadafora, the late Gina (late Natale) Spadafora, and Rita (Mario) Giordano. Mario will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mario was passionate about his family, especially his grandchildren, his garden, wine making, hunting, and the Florida sunshine. Thank you to the medical team of Dr. Kapoor, Cheryl, Dr. Hotte, Marianne, Dr. Wong, Dr. Woods, Dr. Khalil, Karen Baguley, and the nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton (905.574.0405) on Tuesday, May 1st from 2 - 4 and from 6 - 9 pm. Vigil Prayers for Mario will be held at 2 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 2nd at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church (Corpus Christi Site), 1694 Upper James Street, Hamilton. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 254 Garner Road West, Ancaster. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Cancer Assistance Program Hamilton would be appreciated.
