In Celebration of

Mary Rawson

April 19, 1937 -  October 15, 2021

RAWSON, Mary Flora Elizabeth (Ferguson)

Mary, a longtime resident of Hamilton, ON, peacefully slipped away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at age 84. The beloved wife of the late Ronald Wm Rawson (2005) and loving mother of Bob (Wendy) of Collingwood, ON, Cathy (David) Morrison of PEI, Lee-Anne (Gerry) MacPherson of Vancouver, BC, Danny (Melanie Cunningham) of Hamilton, ON. Mary was "gma" to Sarah (Eero) Teene, Chris, Matt, Madeline, Lisa Morrison, Mark Morrison, Briar MacPherson and Michael. To Oliver and Robert Teene she was "ggma".

A farmgirl from St Thomas, ON, Mary was born on April 19, 1937 to the late Robert and Jessie (Fox) Ferguson. Sister of Stanley (Ruby), John (Pat), Frank (Sandra), Keith (Diane) and Patricia (Montie) Boughner. Sister-in-law of Muriel Dummer-Precop, Audrey Leverenz-Gates and Roberta Broadbent. To her many nieces and nephews, she was Aunt Mary.

As a youngster, Mary daily walked "miles" to the SS No.24 (Dewars) school house in N.Yarmouth Twp. She went on to attend Arthur Voaden SS in St. Thomas, then worked the switchboard at Bell Canada where she made many lifelong friends. In 1955, she married the love of her life. At Port Stanley, they danced to the music of Guy Lombardo at the Stork Club, enjoyed their cedar strip boat and the water ski scene and treated us to fries at Mackie's. Ron and Mary settled in Hamilton in the early 1960's where Ron established a successful tool and die business while Mary managed their growing family. She taught us to always make our bed, to appreciate the food on our plates, the importance of swimming and to re-decorate when Dad went away hunting! She enveloped us in love! In the mid 1970s, Mary became a Travel Agent, a career that opened a world of travel for the couple. Our parents home was always open to family and friends - parties often lingered into the wee hours. Mom and dad were always there to lend a hand to their kids - sewing, reupholstering, crafting, painting, renovating and entertaining grandchildren. As they eased into retirement, the Indian Creek Community in Fort Myers Beach, FLA became their social hub and home away from home during the winter months.

Mary's family extends a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Margaret's Place Hospice at St Joseph's Villa (Dundas, ON) for their care and compassion during Mom's final weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider remembering Mary with a donation to Margaret's Place Hospice - https://sjvfoundation.ca/donate/

Visitation will take place at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON (905.527.0405) on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 p.m. A private family Memorial Service and interment will take place on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Mom, our hearts are broken and our loss is deep.
Life for us never came with a manual. It came with a Mother!
We find solace in knowing that you and Dad will be reunited.
"Two we were, Two we are forever".

Met in high school. At school,Ron and I put on a three bout boxing demonstration, After school, we and another fellow took a week and drove to the southern states. We both worked at Clevite in St Thomas Ron, as a tool maker and I worked in engineering. We each built a power boat and belonged to a boat club.
Then Ron And Mary moved to Hamilton. We visited, but with time drifted apart, except for phone calls and emails.
Both Ron and Mary will be missed greatly.
