In Celebration of

Mathew "Oaksey" Oakes

July 17, 1986 -  January 5, 2020

Passed away surrounded by the love of his family at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton on Sunday, January 5, 2020. Mat at the age of 33 was the beloved husband and soul mate of Chelsey (nee Wnuck). Devoted and adored father of Ryan and Kylie. Much loved son of Linda Oakes (nee George) and the late Grant Oakes and his wife Laurie. Loving and supportive brother of Christopher (Jem), Casey, Melissa, Kayden, Keagen, Jesse, Mary (Karl), Kelly, and David (Casey). Forever remembered by his extended family and close friends.

Mat was an avid lover of the Toronto Maple Leafs (with the exception of William Nylander) and his fun loving sense of humour will never be forgotten. He graduated from Mohawk College and proudly served as a police officer for 10 years with the Hamilton Police Service. Mat's strength and determination were reinforced by those he loved, especially his daughters.
