Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, a few hours shy of his 85th birthday.
Beloved husband of Rosa Maria for 58 years. Dearly loved father of Isabel (Mark), Sergio (Alex) and Roger. Cherished grandpa of Mercedes, Madeline, Emily and Grant. Loving brother to Bernadette Pratas and Jose (Teresinha) Carapelho and loving brother-in-law to Maria Rocha, Antonio (Inge) Parada. Predeceased by siblings, Graciosa, Aurora and Rosa and brother-in-law Rui. Mauricio will be missed by many nephews, nieces and friends in Canada and Portugal.
Mauricio was one of the first Portuguese immigrants in the mid fifties to arrive in Canada. Mauricio worked for Casey's Greenhouses, Strathcona Florists and the City of Hamilton. A good man who had a passion for gardening, an ear for music and a fondness for Costa Rica. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Victoria Gardens and 8 Floor South of Hamilton General Hospital.
