In Celebration of

Olga Helen Jenkins

November 9, 1931 - July 4, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend Olga Helen Jenkins (nee Rawlyk) at home on July 4th in her 94th year. She is now reunited with her parents Sam and Mary Rawlyk, her sister Jennie Cheredar (Walter), brother Dr. George Rawlyk, niece Miriam Grenville and nephew Robert Cheredar. She is survived by her daughters Helen Williams (Tim) and Donna Jenkins, her son David Jenkins (Monique) and her Grandchildren, Sarah Eccles (David), Sam Jenkins and Sophie Williams. Her nieces Janice Cheredar (Jim Deeley), Anna Rawlyk (Debbie Armbrust) and Grandniece Laurel Deeley.

Olga was born in 1931 at home in Thorold Ontario and attended Prince of Wales Elementary School and Thorold High School. She graduated from the Mack Training School of Nursing at The St. Catharines General Hospital in 1953. In 1957 she graduated as a State Certified Midwife of Scotland from the Aberdeen Forester Hill Maternity Hospital. She retired from the Ontario Cancer Foundation at Henderson Hospital after 24 years of service as an Oncology nurse. Olga then embarked on a period of world travel, attended many sports events with her besties and living her life to the fullest. Mom never really stopped nursing and her nickname in the community where she lived was “Dr. Olga.”

A devoted member of MacNeill Baptist church in Hamilton she served on the Pastoral Care team right up until her passing.

Visitation to take place at Bay Gardens, 943 Rymal Rd, Hamilton ON on Saturday November 8th from 10:00am-11:00am. Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am followed by a lunch reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Women’s Mission Circle at MacNeill Baptist Church, 1145 King St West Hamilton, Ont. L8S 1L9. Sincere condolences to loved ones closest to Cousin Olga.
Our hearts go out to you. Personally, I am very sad she is gone from us.
Olga had a largest-than-life presence. She was both an inspiration and an example of how to live.
Thank you Olga for all you gave to those who knew you.

Olga was a Camp Kwasind supporter who I met many years ago at Family Weekends. She mothered my son, Garth, who as a young camper, would have gladly left camp early had it not been for Olga's guiding and loving hand of protection and care. It was a life-changing experience for him and for our family. She modeled grace and strength to many who crossed her life path. Her willingness to accept whatever life offered her was a testament to her faith., to the end of her days. I am blessed to have known her. My deepest sympathy to her family whom she loved unreservedly.
