In Celebration of

Olga Martindale

September 11, 1931 -  April 30, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a very special Mom, Olga Martindale. Peacefully, in the quiet morning hours of April 30, 2017 Olga entered into the loving hands of God. Forever loved and missed by her only son Paul and his wife Kendra. Special “Auntie” to Evan (Charlene) and Leo (Talya). Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Jan (Bruce)and the entire McInnes family. Olga was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Theodosia Apostol and her brother Robert Apostol. Olga was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 11, 1931 to immigrant parents from the Ukraine. They moved to Ontario and eventually settled in Rockton. Olga helped her entire life on the family farms and sold produce with her father at the Hamilton market. Olga received a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University and taught English and Latin in high school for many years, transitioning later into Property Management as the owner of Cathedral Suites. Olga spoke three languages and was an avid reader. She loved music and singing, and passed this passion on to her son Paul. Olga loved life and lived it with positive enthusiasm. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. In her later years she enjoyed working in her garden and taking care of her dog Scruffy. Olga proudly shared her Ukrainian heritage with her family through traditional celebrations and cultural events. Olga spent the last 8 years of her life in care, due to the onset of dementia, which she faced with courage and grace. A special thank you to the staff of Maple Lane at Wentworth Lodge in Dundas, who cared so genuinely for our mom. We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care Olga received at the Juravinski ER and Ward F3 in her final days. Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Saturday, May 13 at 1:30 p.m. at The Meeting House Church in the Gasworks, 141 Park St. N., Hamilton. Burial to take place on Monday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington. As a tribute to Olga's love of music and the arts, the family welcomes donations to The Hamilton Music Collective, or Living Rock Ministries. I remember Olga Apostol very well. She taught me I think in grade 6, at Beverly Central Public School. I also remember when she married Mr. Martindale, a teacher there as well.
She was a very outgoing nice lady. Sorry for your loss.
