In Celebration of

Pasquale Iavarone

March 18, 1934 -  April 7, 2025

How do we say goodbye to a man who loved us all unconditionally? The patriarch of our family, who was always quick with a mischievous smile and joke, who loved a good glass of wine, spending time with his friends and who loved, cared and supported his family with every beat of his heart, and every breath he took until the Good Lord called him and said your work is done, time for you to rest and not to be in pain any longer.

In 1964, with his loving wife Teresa on his arm and 18 month-old son Joe, Pasquale left his beloved Napoli to start a new life in Canada. It wasn’t always easy for him – language, culture and practices so different from what he knew – but as he always did, Pasquale dug in and worked harder than anyone else. He built a good life working for many years in construction and in later years Dofasco, at what he called the best job he ever had.

Along the way, the family grew with the addition of another son and a daughter. Through the years, he had many great friends – two in particular he loved and missed daily, the late Luigi Scipione and late Diego DiMatteo – two fine gentlemen cut from the same cloth. The three of them were magic together. The laughs and good times were many. No doubt the old friends, finally reunited in heaven, have already cooked up a pot of spaghetti aioli.

Now he leaves us all heartbroken because we won’t get to see that mischievous smile and welcoming nature. He leaves behind his wife and soulmate of close to 64 years Teresa. The two of them were as opposite as could be, but their love and respect for each other was always on display, they were beautiful together. He is also deeply missed by his children – who he guided and counselled everyday – Joe (Filomena), Tony (Joanne) and two people he said had amazing patience that were a true blessing these last few years as they took Mom and Dad in and cared for them, Anna Maria and Dave (Brohman).

Pasquale had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and was a proud Nonno. He will be missed and is beloved by Lisamarie (Andre), Patrick (Kristin), Antonio (Gloria), Alexander (Kaitlyn), Stephanie (Nicholas), Natalie, Teresa and great-grandchildren Lucas, Olivia and Hannah. Pasquale will also be greatly missed by his sister Argentina and niece Assunta both of Napoli, family friend Lydia DiMatteo and his many nephews, nieces and friends.

So instead of saying good bye to a husband, Dad, Father-in-law, Nonno, Zio and friend, we say thank you for showing us the way everyday in the way you lived your life and showing us how we should live ours. In his 92nd year of bringing joy and happiness to those blessed enough to know him and love, we say see you soon.

Special thanks to Dr. Castelluzzo, Dr. Corsini and Dr. Ho for their care over the years and to the hard working EMS team who gave it their all.

Visitation will be on April 10, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Rd E. A funeral mass will be held at All Souls Church, 21 Barton St. W. on April 11 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Caio, ci sentiamo più tardi Papa.
