STRABAC, Paul “Yippy”

Passed peacefully on May 18th, 2019 at 58 years of age, surrounded by his loving family. Cherished husband of Kerry. Loving father of Madison (David) and Tyler (Katherine). Devoted sibling to three sisters who idolize their younger brother; Sue Westphal (Gord), Nancy (Fred) and Joan Dominick (Dan). A caring and adored Uncle Paul to Danielle Dominick (Tim), Kelsey Dominick-Furbacher (Adam), PJ (Brendan), Jesse, Tawna Olinski (Matt), Dusty Belanger (Guy) and Belle Hudson. Son-in-law to Bill and Maureen Duench. Brother-in-law to Lee Ann, Patrick (Susan), Chris, Melissa Gurova (Todor), Shannon, Nicole, Kathleen Marsalo (Chris), Jaimie and Daniela. He is predeceased by his father George (1991), mother Anne (2017), and brother-in-law Charlie Westphal (2009).

Paul was a dedicated police officer with the Hamilton Police Service for 36 years. He also volunteered for the Glanbrook Junior C Hockey Club for many years. Paul is a man that everyone loves and we all will greatly miss especially his beloved dogs Finnegan and Magriff.

Paul fought a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Our family would like to thank the great care he received at the JHCC, the physicians who followed him, Victor (VON nurse), Valerie (PSW) and all the caring and compassionate staff at Bob Kemp Hospice.

Family and friends are welcomed to Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel” on Wednesday May 22nd, 2019 from 2 pm - 4pm and 6pm – 9pm. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday May 23rd, 2019 at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers donations to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated by the family.

Mike Cole and Pat Stevens (Childhood and dear friend, fellow hockey player/fan and co-worker)

Entered May 18, 2019 from Tillsonburg, Ont

We met through hockey and school, hung out, shared our hope of becoming police officers, fulfilled that dream, watched and shared as our families grew, wound down our careers, gave up playing hockey and re-connected as we became involved in the game operations for the Glanbrook Rangers Junior “C” Hockey Team. You were the “music guy” that kept our parents dancing in their arena seats while pumping up the players with your perfectly executed choice of rock ‘em sock’em tunes. I watched you suffer through your hospital stay awaiting a diagnosis of your tremendous pain. You honoured our family as a pall bearer for Mom. There’s never been a point in any day since December 4th that I haven’t had you, Kerry, Madison, Tyler and your sisters in my thoughts. My heart aches that you’ve left us but I know that you’ve found peace. Mike and the entire Cole family will miss you. Say Hi to Mom for us. She left us one year and 2 days ago.
