Predrag 'Peko' Roic
June 10, 1960 - March 2, 2016
Obituary
Predrag ‘Peko’ Roic
Passed away on March 2, 2016 at the age of 55. Like everything else in his life, he faced his cancer battle with utmost determination, humour and stoicism. His wish was for his family and friends not to mourn his death, but to celebrate his life - and a beautiful life it was. Peko never missed a chance to swim in his pool at home, soak up the sun on beaches spanning from the Caribbean to the Adriatic Coast, play a round of tennis, cruise around in his immaculately kept sports cars, enjoy the company of his family and friends over fine food and wine, and spoil his beloved English Bulldog Gracie. Despite all of life’s challenges - fleeing war in the former Yugoslavia, moving his young family to Canada, working tirelessly to provide a better life for them, and in his last days, facing terminal cancer - he never lost his sense of humour and charmed everyone he met along the way. His ability to simultaneously intimidate with his stern gaze and disarm with his wit and charm was his trademark and will be forever unmatched. Peko was a loving husband and father, and loyal friend to many. He is survived by his wife Durdica ‘Georgia’ Roic, daughter Kristina Roic, son Ivan Roic, sister Besi Roic, fur-baby Gracie Roic, and extended family in Canada and Croatia, including Rada Biljan, Maya Biljan, Zdenka Biljan, Davor Stor, Buba Stor, Marko Stor and Igor Stor. In lieu of flowers, Peko would like family and friends to make a donation to the McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation because illness is never more heartbreaking and unjust then when it affects children. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Juravinski and General Hospitals who took such good care of him during the last month of his life. Visitation will be held BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME’ William J. Markey Chapel’ 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton (905-574-0405) on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm. A Celebration of Peko’s Life will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 1pm in the funeral home chapel.

Georgia, Kristina, and Ivan,
Whenever we had the pleasure I spending time with Peko he always made us laugh heartily at the stories he told. He always had a smile on his face and laughter in his voice. One was embraced with a feeling of enjoyment while in his presence.
Our deepest condolences on your lost. Peko will be missed by many.
Cherish the memories that you have of him and they will keep you embraced with his presence.
May he rest in peace.

Dear Georgia, Kristina & Ivan:

I was saddened to hear of your loss.

Peko was a lovely man and was always so friendly whenever I met him.

I am sure he will be missed terribly but it should be comforting that so many people thought so highly of him.

Please accept my sincere condolences.
