Peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2018 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Howard ‘Howie’ passed away after a valiant struggle with Cancer. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Sheila of 56 years. Cherished father of Craig and his wife Sheila (nee McCaffrey). Adored and loving grandfather of Kate and Caryn. Howard will be sadly missed by his sister Donna Connolly. Predeceased by his brothers James and Jack. Howard will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Howard was a dedicated employee of CSG for many years and then changed direction and became the owner of Bay City Paint and Wallpaper for 12 years. He so enjoyed his time with his staff and all the great customers and friends he met along the way. The family wishes to thank all of our dear friends for the love and support, the many meals, and treats they prepared for us. We are truly blessed to have you in our lives. To all the Doctors and nurses who took such great care of Howard, especially Dr. Marcellus and Nurse Shannon, Thank You. You are remarkable and so caring. A Celebration of Howard's life will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) from 5-8 pm. So sorry to learn of Howard’s death from Cancer. Lots of fond memories going back of course to our parents’ generation, Sheila. I will try to drop in to the memorial.

We will always remember Uncle Howie’s sense of humour and fun loving nature. We will especially remember his kindness, that time many years ago, in opening his business on Labour Day so we could get another role of wallpaper to finish our labour day weekend project. Much love to Aunt Sheila, Craig, Sheila, Kate and Caryn at this difficult time.

We are so sorry to hear of Howards passing. We enjoyed many great times with him and Sheila at Isla Del Sol and will miss his laughter and wit dearly. Take care Sheila, our prayers are with your family at this time.

Very sad to hear about Howie's passing. When we first met him at the store those many years ago, little did we know we were starting a special journey together. During their years at Bay City, we learned a lot from Howard & Sheila's example regarding work, community, and family. I suspect that even many of our customers and suppliers sensed that there was a chemistry between Howard, Sheila, and staff that resulted in a certain 'magic' at the store during those years. The Johnstons were one in a million, and it pains us to loose a good guy like Howie. Our deepest sympathies to Sheila and family during this very sad time.
