Rocco Angelo Rao
August 4, 1927 - March 18, 2016
Obituary
RAO, Rocco Angelo
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rocco at St. Joseph's Hospital on March 18, 2016 at the age of 88. Beloved husband to Rosa for 65 years. Loving father to Tony (Ruth), Theresa, Frank (Linda), Angelo (Mary), and Mario (Chantal). Proud nonno to Rachel (Kris), Jessica (Matt), Cassandra (Jeff), Carla, Rocco (Diana), Michael, Antonio, Zachary, and Lucas. Bisnonno to Hudson, Dawson, and Angelina. Predeceased by his brother Frank (Ginevra) and sister Teresa (Arcangelo). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends both here and in Italy. Rocco immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1958. He was a proud employee of Stelco for 23 years before retiring in 1991. Our dad was a very happy and playful man. He always thought of others before himself. He will be remembered for his love of gardening and his willingness to share with others. Rocco was happiest when spending time with his entire family saying, "This is what makes me happy, Mia Famiglia."

Our deepest condolences to all the family.

We never knew Rocco, but knowing Angelo and Tony, it's safe to say that their father must have been a wonderful man.

Stelco retiree ROCCO RAO worked on the Inspection Skids in the 12-10 Mill. He was the best partner I ever had as the Metallurgical Inspector that worked with him. Above all he worked safely and looked out for the safety of others. Methodical and deliberate, he taught many how to work safely on a job where the danger of getting hurt was prevalent. He was the best 'grinder' on the skids and had a very agreeable personality as well - quiet and respectful, always. May he rest in peace.
