MALATESTA, Rocco Antonio

The Lord called Rocco to join Him, peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on February 3, 2017 at St. Joseph's Healthcare in his 87th year. Beloved husband to Maria for 62 years. Cherished father to Rose (Donato) Malatesta and Sam (Vanda) Malatesta. Proud Nonno to Dora, Elisa (Fab), Silvia (Matt), Angelina, Isabella, Sofia and Julianna. Beloved great-grandfather to Adrianna, Alessandro, Luca and Julien. Rocco is reunited with his parents and siblings. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Rocco and Maria immigrated to Hamilton in 1960 to create a better life for their family. Rocco persevered through many health challenges throughout his life so he could continue to be the heart of our family. After many years of dedication to the construction industry, Rocco became a custodian for the Catholic School Board. Many students have fond memories of the way Rocco made them feel special... he was a Nonno to all of them. To the staff at St. Joseph's Health Care, especially the 3 Wishes Program, your compassion and care to our family is appreciated beyond measure. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm and on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Vigil prayers to take place at 8:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene's Roman Catholic Church, 232 Queenston Road, Hamilton on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:00 am. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington. For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
