RUTH DOBISEK
1928-2017

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ruth Dobisek (née Renner) at Joseph Brant Hospital on April 19th, 2017. Ruth is survived and cherished by her daughter Nina and her son-in-law Richard McCreath. Much joy was brought to Ruth’s life through her two grandchildren Renner and Allegra McCreath.

Ruth will be very sadly missed by her loving family and her many friends young and old. She had a big bright smile, a kind word and a listening ear for everyone.

Ruth was born in Krefeld Germany, into a joyful, musical family; she had very happy memories of her early childhood with her parents Gertrud and Friedrich, three brothers Otto, Heiner and Fritz, and her sister Lore.

Ruth’s sunny disposition, positive outlook on life, strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit allowed for great satisfaction and success in both the advertising agency, Creative Printing and Advertising in Hamilton, that she started and ran with her former husband Otto Dobisek, as well as the Bohemian Restaurant and Banquet Centre in Waterdown. Ruth so enjoyed the many people she came into contact with through the years and felt very fortunate in her many friends, including Herta Murray with whom she shared a long and special bond.

Ruth found wonder and grace in every day. Her many pleasures throughout her life included athletics, particularly swimming, nature in all its seasons, and in recent years, her garden. Literature, poetry, opera and classical music provided much enjoyment, and Ruth loved to sing. Up until her eyesight started to deteriorate, Ruth always had a crossword puzzle on the go. She was still eagerly participating in a twice-weekly swim group and once-weekly exercise class. Strong and determined, Ruth enjoyed independence and was fully engaged in life until the very end.

Her devotion to her family was her greatest joy and gift.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday April 29th from 1:00-4:00pm at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON, (905-527-0405). Cremation has taken place.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital for their care and compassion, for Ruth and her family.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. You are invited to sign the online Book of Condolences at: www.baygardens.ca
