It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Salvatore with his loving family by his side on Friday December 1st 2017 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Domenica for 63 years. Much loved father of Maria & Glen Smith, Charlie & Leonora Collura and Connie & Jeff Merritt. Will be greatly missed by his grandchildren whom he loved dearly and who affectionately called him “Papa” Adam(Zoe), Sarah(Richard), Anthony, Samantha, Lindsay & Dana. He leaves behind siblings Carmelo( Petrina) Luigi (Margaret) Joe( Theresa) and Maria Guagilano (the late Alphonso) and sister in law Giovanna Maida ( the late Vincenzo) Predeceased by his brothers Charlie ( the late Vincenza)and Pietro( the late Calogera). Will be fondly remembered by Pino LoSardo and many nieces, nephews & cousins in Canada and Sicily. Special thanks to all the caregivers , especially Joddie, who have helped take care of our father these last several years both at home and more recently at St. Peters Residence. And thank you to the nurses and Doctors of the Medicine and Palliative Care Teams at St Joseph’s Hospital for their excellent care. Visitation will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Road E. Hamilton, on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Vigil Prayers will be offered at 8:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 20 Idlewood Ave. Hamilton, on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
