In Celebration of

Salvatore Mattina

October 21, 1937 -  October 28, 2016

MATTINA, Salvatore

It is with great heartache and sadness that the family of Salvatore announces his unexpected passing on Friday October 28, 2016. A loving husband for 47 years to Teresa Mattina and proud father of sons Ignazio (Corry), Luigi, and Sam (Jennifer). Adoring Nonno to Kaitlyn, Samuel, Isabella and Julia. Son to the late Ignazio and Pierina Mattina. Survived by his siblings Maria (the late Carmelo), Nenna (the late Giuseppe) and Carmelina (Vincenzo). Brother to the late Giuseppe (Carmela). Son-in-law to the late Luigi and Marianna Alaimo. Brother-in-law to Gaetano (Maria) Alaimo, Lina (late Salvatore) Sottile, Carmelina (Jerry) Berrafati, Giovanna (Frank) Balestra. Beloved uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. Salvatore was a devout Catholic and faithfully attended Sunday mass at All Souls Church. He retired from Dofasco after 32 years of hard work but the greatest joy was his family; nothing gave him greater pleasure than tossing the bocci balls with his wife or wading into the waters of Wasaga Beach with his grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by many in Hamilton, especially his friends at the Trinacria Club and by friends and extended family in Racalmuto, Sicily. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Tuesday, November 1st from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Vigil Prayers for Salvatore will be held Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of All Souls Catholic Church, 21 Barton Street West, Hamilton on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington. Please sign the online Book of Condolences at www.baygardens.ca
