In Celebration of

Severin Udovic

May 3, 1938 -  July 6, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Severin Udovic who passed away peacefully on July 6th at Hamilton Ontario at the age of 85 years. Lovingly remembered by his partner of 10 years, Josie Bota and his sons Will and Paul (Lisa), and his grandchildren; Jacob, Ben, Kylie, and Tyler; as well as his great grandchildren Owen, Ellianna and their new baby boy. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers in Slovenia; Vojko (Nada), and Viktor (Karlinca) as well as his extended family Rob (Dale), Rick (Nicole, Coulter, and Hudson), Krista (Vince and baby NIco), Jacob (Larissa), and Ricky. Predeceased by his wife Trudy and his brother Ted.
Always the life of the party, Severin loved to dance, was an avid and fiercely competitive bocce player and loved to playfully “referee” said bocce competitions. His outgoing nature combined with his unique ability to speak multiple languages ensured that he would make new friends wherever he went. Severin cherished family gatherings where he enjoyed cooking, entertaining and showcasing his BBQ skills. He took great pride in his home which was clearly evident in his impeccable gardens where he loved spending time. His world centered around his life partner Josie, his children, and his grandchildren. He proudly shared all of their achievements and accomplishments with others at every opportunity. He will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, and his enduring loyalty to family and friends.
Severin, you will be sadly missed by all, but your energy and zest for life will forever be remembered.
Special thanks to the staff of the DR Bob Kemp hospice in Hamilton whose professionalism, attentive care, and genuine kindness made this incredibly difficult journey a warm and dignified experience for all of us.

We are all heartbroken for Josie & Severin's beloved family. My parents Ana & Filip are neighbours and my dad and Severin became instant friends. They would spend time sharing stories, talking politics, and visits to each others homes for dinners. My father often said that Severin was like a brother to him.
Severin never gave up the opportunity to lend a helping hand to anyone. In particular he would mow my parents lawn and help shovel snow even though he was older than my dad. His pride and love of his home and garden was evident and he and Josie shared a beautiful life together. Please accept our deepest condolences and know that Severin touched our lives deeply.

We send our condolences to the family of Severin, some of whom we've known for 50 years since our mutual early days in Oakville where we had many wonderful gatherings, parties, back-yard socials etc. We miss his exuberance in all things and remember fondly the many things he taught us about gardening, such as his severe pruning of plants and trees that horrified us, and how to graft grape vines and fruit trees. An amazing guy !
With prayers and warm sentiments to Will and Paul and their families.
May God bless you in this time of sorrow.
