In Celebration of

Sharon Johnson

After a long, heroic battle with cancer, Sharon peacefully passed away on Sept. 5, with her loving family surrounding her. She was the beloved wife of Henry, who fought beside her throughout this difficult time, and proud mother of Sean. In her final weeks she was able to spend quality time with her daughter-in-law Ashley, and her beautiful newborn granddaughter, Scarlett Rose. She will be missed by her dear brother Rob, (Martha), and nephew, “second son”, Robbie (Maria), and their baby Maxwell. Her cousin Brenda Nelson, (Tom), who she thought of as a little sister, and their two children who she adored, Jamie, and Michael. Sharon thought the world of her mother-in-law, (Grammy), and was close with all of her wonderful brother, and sister-in-laws from the East Coast, who sent constant prayers and words of encouragement. Sharon worked as a secretary at Stelco Steel for 30 years before retiring to raise her only child. Sharon loved her family above anything else and was the glue that kept everyone together, especially throughout holidays and special events. As a young woman, she was full of adventure and a worldwide traveler. As a family, we will always cherish the lovely memories we shared golfing and riding our bikes on the beach in Hilton Head Island, SC, vacationing in beautiful Muskoka, and traveling cross country from PEI to BC. Her sense of adventure has been instilled in her son, now living in BC. Sharon always had a big, beautiful smile and laughter, an optimist attitude, compassion for others, caregiver to her aging predeceased parents, generous, kind and the world’s best mother and wife. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home at 947 Rymal Rd, Hamilton on Monday, Sept. 11, between 2 and 4 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Childrens Wish Foundation would be appreciated.
