Sofia Pietrantonio
December 6, 1928 - November 6, 2015
Obituary
Sofia Concetta Pietrantonio (nee Melfi)
Dec 6, 1928 – Nov 6, 2015
Passed away suddenly and gracefully, just as she would have ordered, “con una buona grazia” at Idlewyld Manor at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Giuseppe Pietrantonio; loving and tender Mother of Michael Pietrantonio and his wife Lina (nee Storti) & Jo-Anne Pietrantonio & her husband Sal Giulione. Very proud Grandmother and Great grandmother of Sofia & Kai Vance, Tamara & Mark Duda, Michael Pietrantonio and Bianca, Erica and Kira Giulione, and Great Grandmother to Isabela, Adriana, Nicolas Duda and Kyle Vance. She would always say of her cherished nipotini, “sono uno piu bella de navato”, (one more beautiful than the other). Fourth in birth order of the Melfi Clan. Sofia was sister to predeceased Teresa, Giuseppe, Pietro , Annunziata. Sister in-law to Rosina Melfi and Anna Maria Pietrantonio (nee Vincelli) of Hamilton, Carmelina Pietrantonio of Campobasso, Italy and predeceased, Rafaele Di Tullio, Giusepina Ferraro, Americo Fresco, Vincenzo Pietrantonio and Paolo Mastangelo. A wonderful Zia to her adoring nieces and nephews that often visited and some lived with the family as they made roots in the Hamilton area. As she recently reminded us “ci siamo sempre voluto bene”, (we have always loved one and other). Gracious friend and confident to all that enjoyed her company. Sofia will be remembered for her patient listen skills, pearls of wisdom, and clever sense of humour. We have fond memories of her passion for sewing; many times helping others with their projects. She always took pride in seeing her finished wares on those she sewed for. Mom was wise beyond her education; she understood and accepted life as it unfolded. She was recently and lovingly referred to as “the poster child for elderly women”. Mom was full of gratitude and grace; a warm and loving soul that touched many. The family is thankful for the wonderful care she received in the transition program while at Villa Italia and her most recent care at Idlewyld Manor.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stoke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

To truly honour our beloved Sofia, please simply pass on her favorite saying and words she lived by, “una buona grazie ti costa niente”, (it costs you nothing to be kind).

Please know that you are all in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time. Sofia was so so right by living her life by saying "La grazie ti costa niente". What a legacy to leave. From what we've heard, she was a beautiful human being. Cherish the memories! All our love, Silvana and Bob

The heart that your mother had for others is a rare gift to the many people who had the privilege to know her and be blessed by her. There’s a special place in all of our hearts for our mothers, just like there’s a special place in every mother’s heart for her children. our sincerest condolences to you and your family for your loss.

Sorry we could not be there with you on this day but know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Anna and Pietro
