Vincent Howcroft

NOVEMBER 22, 1926 - SEPTEMBER 10, 2017

On September 10, 2017 at the age of 90, Vincent Howcroft died peacefully and with great dignity. Cherished and loving husband of Margaret Anne (Halloran) Howcroft for 64 years; dearly loved father of Pauline Dewan (Dennis), Tom Howcroft (Pam), Maggie Mongeon (Roger), and Liz Volk (Dave); proud grandfather of Michael Dewan (Ashley), David Dewan (Sara), Kristen Howcroft, Caroline Howcroft, Laura Knudson (Daryl), Maggie Orvidas (Pat), Raymond Mongeon, Matthew Mongeon, Nicole Volk, Kevin Volk; and great grandfather of Emma Knudson. Son of the late Thomas and Florence (Osbaldeston) Howcroft; predeceased by brothers Thomas Howcroft and Lorne Howcroft; and brother-in-law of Carmela Howcroft, Helen Halloran, and Dorothy and George Gauthier. Vin served in an executive capacity for Ford, American Motors, Hawker Siddley, and Indal, the latter as Vice President of Corporate Affairs. Vin received his MBA from the University of Toronto at a time when the graduating class consisted of only six people. Parishioner of Holy Rosary Church for 63 years, Vin served as lector, usher, and Eucharistic minister. He was also one of the first members of the Renew committee. Vin’s treasure in life was his family, all of whom consider him one of the greatest people they have ever known. They especially remember wonderful times together at the cottage in Southampton and the condo in Naples, Florida. Anyone who knew Vin will remember him as a truly good and gracious man who always saw the best in everyone. A person of great integrity, quiet wisdom, and genuine caring, he will be greatly missed. A special thank you to Dr. Jane McDonald, Dr. Bill Love, and caregivers Ronda and Teresa. Visitation will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive BURLINGTON (905.527.0405) on Thursday September 14 from 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church on Friday, September 15 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
