Ruffo, Angelo Frank. July 27, 1938 - October 7, 2023.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce that Angelo Frank Ruffo has finally won his battle over Alzheimer’s and is free and at peace at last. Angelo passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
Angelo will be sadly missed by his brother Joe and his wife Lynda, his sister-in-law Sandy Ruffo, his nephews Jeremy Ruffo and Aaron Ruffo, and his cousins. He was predeceased by his youngest brother Paul in August of this year. He was also predeceased by his parents, Frank and Inez Ruffo, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Angelo, also known as Ange by his family, Frank by friends, or A. Frank in the “biz” (or Frangelo by Joe), was a consummate performer for most of his life. A singer, a dancer, and an actor, he loved to entertain on stage or screen, right up to the time that this horrible disease that he battled so stubbornly stole his identity. Ange played a great villain, or a lovable old Italian guy, or any number of roles he was always thrilled to take on and could die on set or screen like none other. He had the heartiest laugh to go along with a great sense of humour. He loved to belt out those old Sinatra tunes; his life was definitely modelled after Sinatra’s “My Way.” But more than all of this, he was a much-loved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, lifelong and devoted friend and mentor to so many. He will be missed immensely.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road, Hamilton, ON. Cremation has taken place, and the family will gather for a private service. A celebration of Angelo’s life will be planned for a later date, to honour and celebrate him in the style he would most appreciate. Online condolences may be made at www.baygardens.ca
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Society or The Actors Fund of Canada.
