It is with heavy hearts and immense love that we announce the passing of Cecilia Rinaldo, who left us on December 9, 2025 in her 87th year, with her family by her side.
Cecilia was a cherished wife, mother, sister, and Nonna whose kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion shaped the lives of everyone who knew her. She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Angelo and Rose; her sister, Maria (Everesto); her brother, Tilio (Renata); and her devoted husband, Gilberto. She is survived by her siblings Bruna (Roger), Eugenio (Annette), Flora (Angelo), Milena (Tony), and Tony (Mary).
Cecilia’s legacy lives on through her children-Terry (Lisa), Rick (Sam), and Carla (Vince); her grandchildren-Melissa, Daniel, Zac (Gina), Sasha (Thomas), Lucas, and Alexa; and her great-grandchildren-Adonis, Rosalie, Carmelia, and Giara. Each of them carries a piece of her gentle spirit.
Born in 1938 in Italy, Cecilia grew up surrounded by the values of family and faith that would guide her throughout her life. In 1954, at just sixteen, she came to Canada and began a new life in Hamilton. It was here she built a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Gilberto. Their bond was marked by deep affection, playful banter, and a partnership that stood strong through every chapter of their lives.
Cecilia was a hard worker, giving her all at the family grocery store. Her work ethic was matched only by her devotion to her family. She raised her three children with patience, love and a no-nonsense approach that taught them the value of kindness and responsibility. One of her greatest joys was having her grandchildren visit-welcoming them with warm meals, a blanket on the couch and the gentle, familiar comfort only a Nonna can give.

Whether she was preparing a meal to share, offering a listening ear, or inviting friends into her home, Cecilia filled the world with warmth, laughter, and love.

A celebration of life will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton on Saturday, December 20th from 11:00am - 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to McMaster Children’s Hospital in Cecilia’s name.

In honour of her life, the family invites guests to wear their Sunday best in a colour that reminds them of Cecilia, rather than traditional black. This will be a celebration of a life well-lived, and a woman who deserves to be remembered with joy and love.

Her memory will be cherished forever, and her presence deeply missed.
