Douglas Ray Linton
February 1st, 1949 – November 29th, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Ray Linton on November 29th as St. Joesph’s hospital. Doug was the loving husband of Rose (D’Amico) of 43 years and the proud father of Lisa (Christopher), Christina and Jennifer (Alexander) and the loving Papa to Evelyn, Juliette and Hendrik, who will all miss him deeply. He is predeceased by his parents Cyril and Grace and brother Ken, his father and mother-in-law Quirico and Angela. He will be sadly missed by his brother Wayne (Diane), sister-in-law Judy, brother-in-law Pete (Debbie), Aunt Maria (Frank-deceased), his many nephews, nieces' cousins and their families as well as extended family in Italy and England.
He was a proud, hard-working steelworker at Dofasco’ Coke and Ironmaking division for 37 years until his retirement in 2009. He made lifelong connections and still enjoyed meeting up with the Dofasco crew at the retiree breakfasts. His presence will be missed by the many friends and neighbors whom he always shared a hello and a little chat with. Doug enjoyed being outdoors, taking walks, swimming and fishing with his daughters and grandkids, especially when he was up at the cottage! Doug loved the simple things in life; good food, a good glass of wine, doing his crosswords and sudokus and reading a good mystery novel in his favorite chair and specially making sure every memory was captured with a good picture.
There will be a visitation at Bay Garden Funeral Home in Hamilton on Thursday December 5th from 4-8 pm with a private service for the family to follow on Friday December 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
