Professor Egbert Azariah

With deep sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Professor Egbert Azariah on November 17, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Daska, Punjab, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Saojini, his parents Georgina and Robert William, and his siblings John Benyon, Charles, George, Alfred, Victoria, and Martha.
A respected English professor at Dayal-Singh College and later Al-Hajveri University in Lahore, he was also an accomplished tennis player, winning several championships at FC College Lahore. He immigrated to Canada in 2006, where he continued to enjoy reading, Shakespeare, films, and wrestling.
He leaves behind his devoted son Naveed, daughter-in-law Asma, grandchildren Jennifer, Joshua, Jovita, and Joseph, and his elder brother Victor (Vicky), along with many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. A man of deep faith, he translated “Shah Abdul Latif Bhatai and His Messages” and recently completed a book on the history of Christianity to be published in 2026.
Visiting will take place at Bay Gardens Funeral home 947 Rymal Road East on Friday December 5th from 12p.m. to 1p.m and a funeral mass will be held at 1p.m. and Burial to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery 254 Garner Rd W, Ancaster.
