In Celebration of

Eugene Joseph Charko

June 30, 1923 -  March 13, 2017

CHARKO, Eugene (Gene)

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our father on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ann, his children Dennis (Margaret), Janet Meleskie (Richard), Philip (Susan), Robert (Linda) and Lori Charko (Ed). He will be missed by his 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The original owner of Adanac Ornamental Iron Works Ltd., Gene carried on his father's tradition of working with iron and steel. Many of the schools, churches and industrial buildings in the area had their steel fabricated and erected by his company. In his retirement years, he enjoyed his cottage, golf and spending time with his beloved family. In later years, he took pride in his cottage and was always available to advise on its maintenance.

Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Bay Gardens Chapel on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow.

For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or The Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank all who have offered their prayers and condolences. Please sign the online Book of Condolences at www.baygardens.ca
