Surrounded by his family in his 92nd year at home on Wednesday February 25, 2026. Phil will be dearly missed by his children Michael, Maria (Jeffrey) and Dean (Laura) and by his cherished grandchildren: Philip, Christian (Alicia), Vanessa (Christopher), Danielle, Nicolas, Aidan, Alyssa and Sofia. Phil is predeceased by his brother Tonino (Carmelina), and parents Augusto Bozzo and AnnaMaria Citrigno. He is survived by his, brother Romeo Bozzo, Franco Bozzo, sister Maria (late Benito Perotta), Rita (late Pepino Tucci,) Liliana (late Cesare Canino), Pina Bozzo, Carmelina (Carmen Naccarato), Venere Ricci. Phil leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Canada, The USA and Italy.
Phil immigrated to Canada in 1956 with very little—no resources and no formal training—but with a sharp mind, strong determination, and a clear vision for his future. That vision came to life in 1968 when he founded Future Homes Construction, a company that quickly earned a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and uncompromising quality in custom home building.
In 1982, Phil was named Home Builder of the Year and was widely recognized as both a maverick and a visionary within the industry. What set him apart was not only the homes he built, but the relationships he formed—his clients became like family, connections that endured for decades.
His passion for the craft was passed down to his sons, Michael and Dean, who became skilled carpenters in their own right.
In 1985, Phil embarked on a new chapter, expanding his entrepreneurial journey as a Tim Hortons franchisee involving his daughter Maria who continues with the brand to this day. Phil was fiercely proud of his Italian heritage and Donnici, the small town in Calabria from which he came. He was a founding member and past president of the Donnici Social Club. A place to celebrate the food and traditions of his village with so many of the friends and family he grew up with.
Throughout his life, Phil and his brother Romeo were inseparable. Together, as young men they embarked on a brave journey to the “New World”—truly thick as thieves. During Phil’s health struggles, their daily phone calls became his brightest moments and a source of hope for better days.
Later in life, Phil discovered a passion for cooking—nothing brought him more joy than preparing meals for family and friends. Just as meaningful to him was sharing this passion with his grandchildren. The lessons he learned on his journey to success were deeply instilled in them. They were his pride and joy—his lasting legacy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Margetts, Dr. Richard Tozer, Dr. Kim Ireland, and the PSW team at Bayshore Home Health for their compassion and care throughout our father’s illness.
Visitation will take place Sunday March 1st from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Bay Gardens Funeral Home 947 Rymal Rd. E, Hamilton. The family will be holding a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Canadian Kidney Foundations of Canada and The Heart & Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated.
