In Celebration of

Gianfranco (John) Zochil

January 6, 1940 -  August 14, 2024

Peacefully, surrounded by his family at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Aurelia. Loving father of Frank and his wife Karen, and Annamaria and her partner Mario. Adoring Nonno of Alessia, Alexander, Olivia, and Kiana. Devoted son and son-in-law of the late Francesco and Maria Zochil, and the late Aldo and Eva DeSantis. John will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and family from Italy and the United States.

He immigrated from Italy with his parents at the age of 12 and lived a life full of love, laughter, and a passion for music, playing the accordion and always bringing joy to those around him. He was loved by so many because of his kind and humble nature. We will forever cherish the moments we had with him, the lessons he taught us, and the stories that brought so much joy and laughter. Although he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in our memories, reminding us of the love he shared so freely. He touched all of our lives in a special way and is forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Father.

The family wishes to thank Westmount Terrace, Heritage Green Nursing Home, and Bay Gardens Funeral Home for their compassion and care.

Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road, Hamilton, on Monday, August 19th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a chapel service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Online condolences can be made to www.baygardens.ca
