In Celebration of

Harry Janssen

May 11, 1937 -  August 21, 2024

Passed away on Aug. 21, 2024 at Hamilton General Hospital, in his 88th year. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Grace Janssen (née De Kleer) and his five children: Luke (Miriam), Allan (Pauline), Margot (Paul), Renee (Len), and Ivan (Patricia), as well as his 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Jake, Luke and Jane. Survived by sisters Rennie and Judy, and brother Simon. Harry was a true family man, taking great joy in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His home in Hamilton was the focal point of family life, where he enjoyed his gardens and flowerbeds. In the wintertime, he would often spend time with his siblings in Florida where he was an avid fisherman. He also saw himself as a fisher of men, as described in Matthew 4:19. Above all, he was committed to his Lord Jesus Christ and expressed great joy about going to see him, knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8). He was a larger-than-life figure who will be missed by all who knew him. A visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, Ont., on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service at the same location on Friday, Aug. 30, 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Open Doors Canada (opendoorscanada.org) would be appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.BayGardens.ca.

My sympathies to Harry's family. Harry led me to the Lord in his Fish & Chips store in 1998 and we remained friends ever since. He fulfilled the great commission with passion and joy.

We'll miss you

In Life We Accumulate Very Few Friends ... for about 35 Years Harry has been One of Mine, We had Met Occasionally and Frequently during that time frame to discuss Life and its Meanings to Discuss Family, Finance, and our Spiritual Walk. What a Blow to learn of His Passing. Harry left an Indelible Mark on Many lives and will be forever missed by Those who had the Pleasure of Knowing Him. Rest in Peace Dear Friend and Know You Were a Blessing to So Many Survivors.
