It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Helena "Helen" Raposo (nee Soares) on June 7th, 2023.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Joseph, daughter Venessa (Mathew), and grandson Vincent. She is also survived by her mother Maria da Conceicao Soares and mother-in-law Paulina Raposo. She is predeceased by her father Nelson Soares, and father-in-law Joseph Raposo. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters and brothers, Cilia (Manny), Anna, Lina (Scott), Dan (Nelly), Pauline, Tracey (Amedeo); her godchildren, nieces and nephews, Brant (Amanda), Kevin (Stefanie), David (Linda), Quinn, Jude, Jacob, Ali, Casey-Jo, Christopher, Michael, Delilah, Sofie, and Harley.

Helena will also be fondly remembered by all her loving aunts, uncles, godfather (Antonio - Portugal), cousins, and extended family members and friends, in Canada, United States, Portugal, Brazil and Bermuda; far too many to list, but all equally loved and adored by Helena.

Special thanks and gratitude does out to all the wonderful staff, who cared for Helena, at Juravinski Cancer Centre, Juravinski Hospital, St. Peter’s Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Home Care.

A heartfelt thank-you to Ashley at the Juravinski Hospital. Your kindness and understanding over these past 3 months made a difference.

Word cannot begin to express the gratitude and appreciation we have for Helena’s home nurse Theresa (and team). You became a true friend to Helena and the family, over the past years. You, along with Joanne, Sharon, and Kim did an amazing job caring for Helena. Thank-you so much for your care and support.

Funeral visitation to take place on Monday June 12th at Bay Gardens Funeral Home from 2:00pm-4:00pm, and 6:00pm-9:00pm, (947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton ON. L8W 3M2). Funeral Mass to be held on Tuesday June 13th, at Annunciation of Our Lord at 11:00am, (280 Limeridge Rd W, Hamilton, ON. L9C 2V2). Entombment to take place following Funeral Mass at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery for 12:30pm (254 Garner Rd W, Ancaster, ON. L9G 3K9).

Reception to be held following Entombment back at Bay Gardens Funeral Home from (947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton ON. L8W 3M2).

Donations can be made in Helena's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, Juravinski Cancer Centre, or a charity of your choice.
