In Celebration of

Ignazia Bertolino

July 6, 1938 -  November 11, 2023

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our precious mother
Ignazia nee Fumuso surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
her 86th year. Ignazia was born in Alcamo, Sicily, Italy and immigrated to
Canada in 1967. Upon arriving in Canada with her husband Vito and her son
Frank, the journey began. Ignazia devoted her life to her husband and her children.
She leaves behind her loving husband Vito of 63 years. Loving mother of
Frank and Sam(Joanne). Beloved nonna to Anissa and Anthony. Predeceased by
her parents Giacomo and Guiseppina Fumuso. Survived by her sister Angelina
Fumuso and predeceased by her brother-in-law Vincenzo Cammarata. Survived
by her sister Maria Fumuso and predeceased by her brother-in-law Francesco
Manno. Survived by her brother Giuseppe Fumuso and her sister-in-law
Giuseppina Fumuso. Predeceased by her father-in-law Francesco Bertolino and
mother-in-law Vincenza Catania. Predeceased by her brother-in-law Antonino
Bertolino and survived by her sister-in-law Fina Bertolino. Survived by brotherin-
law Gustenzio Bertolino and sister-in-law Rosa Bertolino. Ignazia will also be
remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada and
Italy. A special thank-you to all of the staff and palliative care team at St.
Joseph’s Hospital who took great care, provided tremendous support and
compassion to Ignazia.
Following her retirement from Voortman’s cookies after 27 years, Ignazia took
great joy spending time with her grandchildren Anissa and Anthony. Nothing
made her happier than watching as family and friends shared meals together
over the kitchen table, laughing and joking while enjoying one of her homemade
pasta dishes. Ignazia was very passionate and enjoyed baking, making homemade
pasta and making memories with friends and family. Ignazia was always
the life of the party and cared deeply for family and friends. We will miss her
smile, her laughter and her company.
