In Celebration of

James "Bernard" Osbaldeston

August 27, 1924 -  August 1, 2017

OSBALDESTON, BERNARD JAMES JOSEPH

After living life to the fullest, always with a smile and a story or two, we say goodbye to a remarkable man. Bernard passed away after a brief illness on August 1st, surrounded by family. Loving husband to Phyllis for over 60 years. Father to Donna, Paul, Bill and Diane (Randy). Grandfather to Shawn, Brandy, Tegan and Taylor. Great-grandfather to Andrew, Brody and Mackenzie. Bernard was born to loving parents, the late Bertha and Edward Osbaldeston. He was close to his siblings Gordon and the predeceased John and George. A true entrepreneur, Bernard built his businesses in Hamilton. Most of the businesses he developed were on Barton St. E., an area of the city that was very near and dear to him. He was a kind, generous and caring man. He was very humble. Most wouldn't know about his community philanthropy. He was a sports enthusiast and over the years was involved in curling, squash, tennis and skiing. He was an avid golfer. A special thanks is extended to the kind doctors and nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital. Special thanks to Sisters Giovanni and Patricia for helping Bernards' passing to be so peaceful. Bernard will be sadly missed by his family and friends, especially his best friends Ron Weston, Allan Veri, and his best friend and son Bill. Family and friends will be received at Bay Gardens Funeral Home-Burlington (1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington, ON) on Friday August 4th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. A service will be at St. Paul the Apostle Parish (2265 Headon Rd., Burlington, ON) on Saturday, August 5th at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Firestone Regional Chest Clinic at St. Joseph's Hospital.
